Drop In Volunteers
 
Can't commit to coming in on a regular basis? Then our drop in program is perfect for you! Pick any Saturday or Sunday that works for you, give us a shout to make sure we will be there and just DROP IN! We'll find something for you to do! Over the summer we'll need extra help with cutting the grass, tending our garden, power washing cages and lots more!
 
Volunteers at Large
 
Can't make it into the shelter? Then our volunteers at large may work for you. We have lots of things that you can help us with that you can do right from your home! You can hold a collection drive for items from our list, hold a "fundraising" project, collect ink jet, toner cartridges and old cell phones from local businesses, make phone calls or even make toys for the birds! Let us know what interests you!
 
Shift Volunteers
 
Our biggest need is for people who can come in once a week for a 3 to 4 hour shift to clean cages and do general cleaning of the facilites.  You should be dependable and have transportation.
 
Programs and Special Events
 
We bring our birds to schools, park districts, libraries, etc. and can always use people to help us pack everything up, set it up and break it down for the shows. Same goes for special events like bird fairs, pet parades and adoption events and you can attend these with free admission, so you can also enjoy the event! These usually take place on Saturdays and Sundays over the summer. We also need people to help us with fundraising events like our annual garage sale, booster days and other special events.
 
Parrot Buddies
 
Our Parrot Buddies program needs people who can commit to once a week for 3 to 4 hours to care for a specific bird who's care has been assigned to them. You would be responsible for cleaning the cage, repairing and making toys, showering and spending one on one time with the bird. We will mentor you in the proper way to care for the bird under your care.
 
Toner, Ink Jet and Cell Phone Program Manager
 
We could use someone who can coordinate other volunteers and seek out new opportunities for businesses to help us collect toner and ink jet cartridges and old cells which we recycle for cash.
 
Volunteer Coordinator

We are looking for someone who can manage our volunteers and volunteer events, help with orientation, tours, classes and training. The ideal candidate would be available during the weekends and evenings, as needed.
 
Store Salesperson
 
We are open on Saturdays from 10 to 4 and Sundays from 1 to 4....when we are not at special events or moving birds and cages to and from the rescue...so we need someone who can man the store while we are not able to be there. Responsibilities would be answering the phone, selling our retail items and escorting people through the rescue to view our birds that are up for adoption.
 
Assistant Groomer
 
We need a person who can handle large and small birds to assist us with grooming (Nail, wing and beak trims) and misting the birds. We will also teach anyone interested in how to groom on their own.
 
Fundraising Chairperson
 
Are you good at event planning? Would you like to help us develop fundraising events? We could use help with putting together ways to raise money for the rescue and coordinating existing events.
 
Grant Writer
 
We desparately in need someone who is familiar with finding, writing/applying for and follow up with grants for our rescue.
